About This Project

The Natural Grocer’s project was a delight.  The company was very supportive throughout the design and implementation process. Given the company’s love of pollinators, I focused on local pollinators and their attendant plants, within a classic and colorful Lake Tahoe landscape, showing the view across the lake from Incline Beach (as the store is located on the main street in Incline Village Nevada, on the north east shore of the lake).

As part of the project I designed the lower area to be a community contribution/participation project. The theme of aspen trees have been a favorite for many years, because they represent interconnected community… with the appearance of individual tress but an interconnected root system below. The public was invited to attend an all day event and make their own permanent mark on the mural, using spray paint, stencils, brush paint and graffiti markers. Some even cut their own stencils, which was lovely. Now folks who were part of the project can see their contribution every time they walk by, reminding us on a small level of what we can create when working together.
