The Dreaming Trees: Firefly Nights

Firefly Nights was created as part of my ongoing Dreaming Trees series.  It shows a small boy looking up through the trees at his first vision of fireflies… those magical little bugs that floated like tiny lanterns through the skies of my youth in the American midwest. My son, growing up in the Sierra Nevada mountains, had never seen them until he was 4 years old, visiting my mother’s Ohio farm.  His sense of wonder as he watched them blink in and out across the sky inspired this painting, as a capture of that unique moment in time.
