About This Project

Big Hope Bear has a special history. The painting first started as participation-art at an event sponsored by Citizens’ Climate Lobby. Under my supervision, young people from the Tahoe and Reno areas stepped up to the canvas and painted words and symbols to express their feelings on the issue of climate change. A theme of HOPE soon took form.

I brought the canvas back to my studio and was inspired, as I so often am, by the Tahoe wilderness outside the window. The image of a bear emerged, incorporating and building upon the words and images painted by teens at the climate event.

48×48″ mixed media on canvas.

The original has sold and with that purchase generated a donation to CCL, however limited edition prints are now available in a 30×30″ stretched canvas, numbered and signed with a certificate of authenticity… thereby generating additional support and visibility for this vital cause.  We MUST preserve our one, precious, wild world… for ourselves, our children, and all the living things with whom we are sharing this beautiful planet.
